Today's A Good Day For A Trip, CiCi!

Katie and Juli took their first train ride today and loved it. Well, Joseph reminded me they have been on the train in Magic Kingdom but I think this qualifies as the first ride because we sat in a passenger car and it was not at all like a ride at an amusement park. It was lots of fun though!

We rode the West Chester Railroad with Karen, Chris, Maddie, and Chris' mom Diane. There was supposed to be a flea market at the station but it was one measly table with stuff you couldn't even give away. Pretty funny!

Choo-Choo!
Maddie, Katie, and Juli in front of the train.
Standing there was totally freaking Katie and Juli out!
Juli enjoying the train ride as we moved slowly past the train yard.
Note the scoot away from the window once the speed picked up!
She did warm up to it and as we bounced along she told me "CiCi, this train is really dancing!"
Katie on the other hand loved looking out the window the whole time and didn't even want to turn around to smile for a picture.
Tree #1 - Uh oh! Debris on the track! It's just a little one though...
Chris, Maddie, Diane, Karen
Tree #2 - Umm, we might be here a while!
Actually, kudos to the guys cutting through the trees. They got everything cleared pretty quickly.
Thank god because let me tell you it got hot quick in that passenger car once we stopped moving!!!
The conductor gave the girls lollipops since they were so good while we had to wait for the tree to be cut off the tracks.
Here's Juli's aftermath...
On the ride back to the West Chester station, the girls read their Thomas books that they bought at the Glen Mills station.
Katie took this picture of Juli. She's such a talented photographer. Maybe Daddy can give her some lessons!
After the train ride, I drove the girls past West Chester University, since it was just around the corner, to show Katie and Juli where their Mommies went to school. Katie asked if me and Aunt Sandy were in the 'big kid's class', LOL. I stopped to take a picture of the building we lived in our first year and Katie said "if you want, I can go inside with you and take a picture of your old home." Aww, sweet offer but they were so tired and crabby (they were tired headed TO the train and never napped). Otherwise, I would've gotten out for a few minutes and walked around the campus a bit. Oh well, maybe next time...
Here's our old home

A Sailor's Wife

Today Sandy sent me this poem about being a sailor's wife. I really liked it so I just had to share with everyone...

Nantucket Girl's Song
I have made up my mind now to be a Sailor's wife,
To have a purse full of money and a very easy life,
For a clever sailor husband is so seldom at his home,
That his wife can spend the dollars with a will that's all her own,
Then I'll haste to wed a sailor, and send him off to sea,
For a life of independence is the pleasant life for me,
But every now and then I shall like to see his face,
For it always seemes to me to beam with manly grace,
With his brow so nobly open, and his dark and kindly eye,
Oh my heart beats fondly towards him whenever he is nigh,
But when he says Goodbye my love, I'm off across the sea
First I cry for his departure, then laugh because I'm free,
Yet I'll welcome him most gladly, whenever he returnes
And share with him so cheerfully all the money that he earns
For he's a loving Husband, though he leads a roving life
And well I know how good it is to be a Sailor's Wife.

Thanks Sandy! :-) Although, I'd always rather be sharing Joseph's time than his money but hey, I'll take what I can get! LOL

A Day At The Shore

So, no pictures of our outing to Wildwood but Joseph and I decided on a whim to take Katie and Maddie to Wildwood for the day. Who knows why we decided this because we were exhausted from the wedding yesterday! We had a lot of fun - went to Raging Waters on Mariner's Landing, had some pizza and Curley's fries (b/c who can go to the Boardwalk and NOT get Curley's??? LOL), and then got ice cream at our favorite place, Hassles, before heading back home. Katie was disappointed that we didn't get to go on the beach so we'll have to do that next time! And next time I'll actually take the camera out too! :-)

Well, it's about time...

Only 10 years in the making! Chrissy and John finally tied the knot today on what I think was the hottest day of the summer! But as the psalm goes... Love endures all things (even if it is 100 degree weather!). Once we got into the reception hall though, it was actually pretty chilly and the weather outside had no effect on the partying going on inside!

Congrats to Jen and Keith too!

Many years of love and happiness to all of you! :-)

Picture note: I have no pictures of the wedding other than when we were getting our hair and make-up done in the morning. Here's a link to Karen's pics on Shutterfly so you check them out if interested. I borrowed some of them to post here!
Aren't they beautiful?
Do you? Yep. Good! ... Do you too? Yep. Good!
Joseph and I sharing a 'moment'. Who knows who, I mean what, we were talking about! LOL

Chrissy's Bachelorette Party

Tonight we went out for Chrissy's Bachelorette Party. First to Copabanana on South Street for some dinner and then off to Upstairs at Risque for a 'male revue'. We all had a good time, some more than others! LOL Let's just say - most pics are not suitable for posting on our 'family-oriented' blog!

Sock it to me!

Major effort was put into getting this sock on. It was quite amusing! :-)
What do you mean it's not a sock puppet?
Oh... it goes on my FOOT?
Success!Yes, Grandma, Katie's sitting on the table! Oops! Maddie would not approve, :-).

Beating the Heat!

We gave Poppy Katie's sprinkler so that Maddie and Katie could play in the water when we go there for dinner. Turned out the sprinkler didn't live up to its hype and the girls were bored quickly! So I decided to fill up a cooler for Katie to play in the water, like her on the outside, cups or something in the water. Instead, she hopped right in and even tried to do belly flops in there! LOL Then both of the girls were dunking their heads under and having a great time. Seriously, why do we spend so much money on toys when such simple things amuse them!
Welcome to the Redneck Swim Club!
Aaaaahhhhh, somebody help me!
Ah, much better!

Waiting...

Tonight Katie and I met Aunt Karen at the train station in Croydon since she came up to stay at our house to go to work at the swim club tomorrow. Katie and I were over that way so I could get my dress for Chrissy and John's wedding to the seamstress in Bristol so Karen and I figured it'd work out best to meet there instead of near home. First we were waiting at the Bristol stop and Katie was completely impressed that Aunt Karen was coming on the train. Every time one passed she would get super excited and say "Maybe Karen is on THAT one!" We realized that Karen's train was running late so we were able to meet her in Croydon instead. It was good timing, as soon as we got there so did her train! :-)
Katie waiting patiently!
Ok, this waiting thing is getting old, but Aunt Karen is worth the wait!
After we picked Karen up, we decided to go to Georgine's for some chicken parm. YUMMY! On the way there, we drove past our (me, Mom, Dad) first house to show Katie where I lived when I was little. She loves to hear stories about "when I was her age" so I knew she'd enjoy this!
