Roar To The Shore 2008

This past weekend we headed down to Wildwood, NJ for Joseph's first bike rally (well, as a participant anyway!). James and Sandy went too, and we were all kid-free for the weekend. I think the last time that happened was when we went to Villa Roma for vacation before Juli was born. It's been a while!

Joseph and James rode their bikes down on Friday afternoon and Sandy & I met them down there that night... at just about the same time as Hurricane Hanna arrived! Luckily, it wasn't a wash-out though. It did rain pretty hard for a bit on Friday night and then off and on on Saturday until a downpour for a few hours in the afternoon/early evening. After that, the skies cleared up and Saturday night and Sunday were beautiful!

Gotta love the humidity there!

The Boardwalk ride went out onto the streets too.

Excuse me sir, I think you have something on your head!

Objects In The Mirror...

We went over to Jenine and Chris' tonight and Joseph decided to ride his bike over. I took some pictures of him on his bike through the mirrors in the car. They turned out kinda neat so I decided to post one. By the way, it's not so easy to take pictures of something behind you while trying to pay attention to the road ahead of you. I wouldn't recommend it! LOL

Myrtle Beach

This past weekend, Joseph and I had our first 'adult' vacation since Katie was born. We had a great time in Myrtle Beach visiting Jeff and from the sounds of it, Katie had just as much fun with Mom-Mom and Pop, Poppy and Rudy, and Aunt Karen and Maddie. She got some QT with everyone and even told Mom-Mom that she was staying there for 2 weeks! :-) It wasn't THAT long though, just a long weekend - 5 days.

In Myrtle Beach, Joseph and Jeff golfed during the day at True Blue, Caledonia, and Barefoot Landing - Fazio. It was the '2nd Annual Myrtle Beach Invitational'. (I think that's what they named it, LOL.) I think they're at 1 win a piece so next year's trip will be a tie-breaker! Here's some pictures from Caledonia:
The road leading up to the Club House. It's an old southern plantation, and it's beautiful!!!

Working their way up to the green
The bridge where they waited out the rain. Luckily it let up after about 15 minutes and they were able to finish the round.

This picture cracks me up. It looks like Joseph took it while hiding in the bushes! LOL
While they golfed, I shopped at Tanger Outlets, toured Myrtle Beach, read, watched some movies, and even took some naps. It was heaven! Most people would probably think that was pretty boring but it was so nice to have all that time completely to myself, :-)

At night, we checked out some nice restaurants and then hit some bars - Margaritaville and Crocodile Rocks - and a comedy club. We really had a lot of fun. This would come as a shock to most who know me (now) but I even drank (a lot, lol)!
Tired already but the night is still young!
(Joseph saying "why are you bothering me?" because he was snoozing! LOL)
Hey, I'm not tired! Let's go out!!!
We finally saw the beach before we left on Monday. Jeff took us to the fishing pier he likes to go to and it was really cool, with a bar at the end of it! We decided next year's "Invitational" is going to include a day off for fishing and hitting the beach!

Joseph's New Obsession

A long ride (around the block! LOL)

Vrrrroooooommmmm!
Maybe someday I'll take it out of the driveway...
Joseph was so excited that he doubled the miles. It had 24 when he got it.

Vroooooom!

This past weekend Joseph and James completed their motorcycle course so they have officially 'joined the club'. Joseph and John went to upstate NY yesterday to pick up Joseph's new motorcycle. Joseph said "When we started seeing signs for Montreal, we knew we were way up there!" LOL It took them about 5 hours each way. Katie saw it this morning and thought it was pretty cool. She couldn't wait to sit on it and 'ride' it.
Hey, doesn't she know - "No helmet, no ride!"

Biker Chics

Yesterday afternoon Joseph took Katie to the park because the weather was beautiful (around 60 degrees!). I picked up Juli on the way to meet them there so Katie and Juli could play together. After the park, Juli came back to our house to play some more. Joseph showed Juli his motorcycle helmet and then she and Katie wanted to try it on. If you thought it made Joseph have a big head, wait 'til you see the girls wearing it! :-)
Time for a snack after all that playing at the park
Juli and Bubble Head, :-)
How cute is she??? :-)Oh my gawd, this thing is so heavy!I better hold onto it so it doesn't tip me over!

Brain Bucket

Joseph and James are working on getting their motorcycle licenses (much to Marie's chagrin! Hey, worrying about your kids never goes away, no matter how old they get!). Today we went to the Harley Davidson store so Joseph could get sized for a helmet and he wound up buying one. I think he looks like a space invader with it on!
Take me to your leader
Are they remaking CHIPS? Because I think I could get a role!
Be afraid, be very afraid... THIS will be on a road near you!
Hey, you gotta start somewhere, right?
