Happy Birthday Mom-Mom, Two Mom-Mom, Aunt Norene and Aunt Karen (who was MIA)

We went over to Mom-Mom's house to celebrate a belated birthday for Mom-Mom, Aunt Karen and Two Mom-Mom's birthday tomorrow and Monday, and an early birthday for Aunt Norene. Karen wound up being sick though so no cake for her (thinking Soup Natzi there, lol).

Spanning the generations
Aunt Norene is the oldest in our family and Katie is the youngest.
Speaking of spanning generations, the dress Katie is wearing was my mom's! Me, Karen, Maddie and now Katie have all worn it and it's still in great condition. Aunt Norene bought it for my Mom 50-some years ago. I think she got her money's worth!
(We sung to Two Mom-Mom but Pop was behind the lens and didn't get a pic of that.)

Something tells me Katie doesn't want the Momarazzi to take any more pictures. (By the way, she was in the closet because they were playing hide-n-seek.)

Snuggling
Katie's french braid from earlier in the day which gave her the "crinkly" hair tonight. I was surprised she sat to let me do it but she was really good and excited about her pretty braid.

Meet the Newest Princess

Tonight Livi came over to hang out with us while James, Sandy and Juli went to Sandy's cousin Amy's wedding. Katie had fun playing with Livi and when Katie put on her Cinderella outfit, she decided that Livi needed to be a princess too. So... introducing Snow White! :-) (The pictures are so cute I'm just going to post a bunch of them even though they're very similiar.)

After Livi had enough of wearing the crown, she shared it with me.
Here I am with my girl Cinderella.

Happy Valentine's Day

Since our #1 Valentine (Daddy) wasn't around tonight, we got to spend Valentine's Day with Poppy and Rudy. Katie and I decorated a delicious V-day cake and it was so yummy!

Terrible Two's Tonight

So, from when I picked Katie up from school tonight until she went to bed, it was just one disaster after another - the kind of night that makes you want to pull your hair out (but Katie already took care of that...see below!).

First, we went to Giant and Katie sat in the big part of the cart. When I started to move she fell back hard and hit the end of the cart. Let the crying begin! This was in about the first minute of being in the store.

Then she was pretty good the rest of the time, until we got over to the frozen food area. I had just picked up a dozen eggs and had them up in the front, away from Katie. She stood up and started to pick them up. I said don't touch those. K - Why? Me - Because they'll break. K - They won't break. Me - Yes, they will. DON'T touch! Then I quickly turn to grab something out of the freezer case. As I'm turning back I hear "Uh oh". I didn't even want to look. Luckily it was only 1 egg, but there it was plopped on the floor. We were in (unlucky) aisle 13. Coincidence? I think not! LOL

Once we got home, Katie found a juice box on the coffee table that she had put there this morning for Juli, next time she comes over. So she wants to drink it now... I said no, you can have it with dinner. K - I'll just put the straw in. Me - No, at dinner. Do not touch that juice box or you will be in trouble. Then I take all the bags into the kitchen and again hear "Uh oh! I just spilled a little bit Mommy." So I go in the livingroom and sure enough she opened the juice box (bad move #1) and then spilled it on the table (bad move #2). I took the juice box and put it on top of the microwave and then a battle went on for the next 5 minutes over the juice box, including Katie maneuvering furniture to try to get up to it.

Next... we go down to the basement to do some laundry and Katie sits on the door of the dryer. I said "Don't sit on that, it'll break". K - it's not broken. Me - I know but it might break if you sit on it. Then Katie is helping me load clothes in the dryer and leans on the door to put clothes in. Doesn't the door break off!!! Scared the shit out of her (and me - it was loud!) LOL I said now what are we going to do? The dryer is broke. She said it's ok, Daddy will fix it. I guess it's Daddy to the rescue! (a week from now!)

So then Katie went around the doorway from the washer/dryer area and apparently picked up a sugar bowl that hadn't made it back into the decoration boxes yet. She dropped the lid and it shattered!

We go back upstairs and she has to go potty. I was in the middle of something so I said go ahead, I'll be right in. So about a minute later I ask if she's ok. She said yes but I thought she was way too quiet so I go in and find this:
Killing Trees
Friends don't let friends leave the bathroom with TP stuck on their shoe! LOL
By this point, Katie was SO cranky so we went upstairs to watch Mickey and get ready for bed. She managed to hit her head on Joseph's bureau and then blamed it on me! The nerve, lol. So finally I got her down at about 8:30, and not a minute too soon. I love that kid, but tonight bed time couldn't come fast enough!!!

Hair's To You

Katie is always trying to "fix my hair", which usually means it feels like she's trying to rip each hair out of my head one by one! Tonight she finally managed to get a pony tail in my hair for the first time. Usually she tries and tries and then asks me to help. It was funny because afterwards she said "How does it look?" I put my hand up to check it out and give my standard "It's beautiful!" response when I realized she actually had made a pony tail. I turned around and said "You did it!!! You put a pony tail in my hair!" Then she just stood there staring at the pony tail in total awe of her accomplishment. I took a picture of the masterpiece that was my hairdo. I wish I had been able to take a picture of her face when she realized it was really a pony tail. It was so cute! Katie's taking appointments for new victims...er... I mean "clients"! :-)

Night at the Museum

The sod house project may or may not be headed to some history museum in Baltimore. Details are sketchy, lol. More info to follow later... :-)

What the heck?

So on Wed and Thursday it was 68 and then 63 degrees, and it almost hit 50 yesterday. Then I woke up this morning to this:

It didn't last long and only landed on things like the chairs and flower pots but still... I didn't expect snow after the warm weather this week! (Although I'm totally ready for a major snow storm!)

Big Day for Potty Training

Today was the first day Katie wore panties to school, instead of a Pull-Up. When I picked her up, the teacher told me she was part of "The Potty Club" (which is apparently a special club for the kids who stay dry all day). She even woke up 2 nights ago to go potty so I guess we're working on night training too, lol.

I've been (pleasantly) surprised with the potty training. I expected it to be a lot more work (for all of us), but it's been a really easy transition. *knock on wood* Katie's been dry most mornings and hasn't had an accident since the day after we started the whole potty training endeavor!

G-I-A-N-T-S!!!!

So I really should have posted this on Sunday night but BIG CONGRATS to the NY Giants!

Joseph was so excited although the Giants sure put him and all their fans through the wringer before pulling it off at the end. Joseph was actually kneeling in front of the TV and praying with 3 minutes left. I wish I had taken a picture of that! By the last minute though, the mood quickly changed in our house and instead of praying, there was lots of celebrating! :-)

The Sod House Project - Day 3 (Finishing Touches!)

Maddie and Joseph worked on the sod house project on Monday and finished it up. It looks great! She better get an A or Joseph said he's going to "talk" to her teacher... you know, the Italian way... LOL.
